Ecuador
In 2004, Ecuador marked 25 years of civilian governance, but this period has been subject to much political instability. There have been seven presidents since 1996 and increased demonstrations have indicated significant popular discontent with the economic and political progress of the country. A second round of elections on the 26th of November will decide the next President of the country.

Election Management
Election management covers the roles, functions, organization, financing, management of Electoral Management Bodies (EMBs). It focuses on the institutional structure of EMBs, their administrative infrastructure, the work they do, and their external environment.
Civil Society
Civil society is the political “space” where citizens can debate, join groups, and mobilize for change without being threatened or intimidated. Legitimate governments can extend their legitimacy by being accountable to civil society, which is often the ultimate check on the abuse of power.
Election Law
Election law includes specific issues related to legal and administrative regulations which can be seen as fundamental for any election which aspires to be undertaken in a free and fair way.
