Ole Holtved
Chief of Party, Pakistan
Ole Holtved serves as Chief of Party for IFES in Pakistan. He has more than a decade of experience assisting electoral management bodies plan and implement elections in developing democracies and post-conflict environments.
Holtved has worked as a senior manager, advisor, consultant and researcher on elections in Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia. He was Chief of Operations for the 2002 Kosovo municipal elections and Deputy Chief of Operations for the 2005 Afghan parliamentary and provincial council elections. He has served as an advisor to election commissions in Zambia, Moldova, Ukraine, the occupied Palestinian territories, Iraq, Pakistan, Somaliland, Georgia, Indonesia and Fiji. Holtved has also been a consultant for elections in Nepal, Jordan, Ghana, Papua New Guinea, out-of-country elections for Iraq and out-of-country elections for Afghanistan.
His connection to Pakistan spans back to 1992 when he worked on projects in Karachi and Baluchistan. He returned to Pakistan as Senior Election Advisor for Afghan out-of-country voting in 2004. In 2008, he was engaged by IFES as Senior Election Management Advisor in Pakistan. He was appointed Country Director for IFES Pakistan in November 2011.
Holtved holds a M.Sc. from the Technical University of Denmark and has studied organizational theory and corporate strategy. Prior to working in the electoral field, he was a project manager designing and building FDA-compliant pharmaceutical factories in Denmark and Vietnam.
