June 24, 2011 to June 24, 2011 - IFES

Approximately half of the world’s population is 25 or younger. This demographic has produced astounding political and social change, often with the  galvanizing aid of social media and art forms such as music and film. Yet, the youth’s engagement in the political process continues to be informal and sporadic.

Please join us for a discussion of youth and politics that will address:

  • The power of the youth vote
  • The use of art and social media for political expression and mobilization
  • The overall and long-term impact of youth in politics

Featured Speakers

Heather Smith, President, Rock the Vote

Ben Herson, Filmmaker, Democracy in Dakar

Kyle Lierman, Office of Public Engagement, White House

Moderated by Ryan Musser, Program Associate for Sudan, and member of IFES’ Youth Working Group

Please RSVP by June 22, 2011, by registering online.
