In anticipation of the January 17, 2010 Ukrainian presidential election, Rakesh Sharma, director of IFES’ F. Clifton White Applied Research Center, and Gavin Weise, IFES deputy director for Europe and Asia, presented the findings of IFES’ 18th survey on Ukrainian political attitudes at the Kennan Institute. The event, entitled "Change on the Horizon? Public Opinion in Ukraine before the 2010 Presidential Election: Presentation of Findings from IFES Annual Survey," provided Mr. Sharma and Mr. Weise an opportunity to go over the findings and place them in context of the current political climate.

A podcast of the event can he heard here.

"Public Opinion in Ukraine: Findings from an IFES 2009 Survey," which was conducted in November 2009, reveals high levels of pessimism among the vast majority of Ukrainians about the state of socio-political affairs in the country, as well as disenchantment with political institutions in the country prior to the January election.
