COP Beverly Hagerdon Thakur will brief attendees on the approaching concurrent presidential, national and local elections slated to take place May 2010 and the unique challenge it presents to democracy in the Philippines and its electoral process. The 2010 elections mark the first nationwide automated election in the country. IFES is working with the Philippine Election Commission on Elections (COMELEC) and civil society partners to effectively and credibly conduct elections that can contribute to the stability of democratic life in the Philippines.
